Georgia Softball Hosts Mercer on Wednesday

ATHENS, Ga. --- The No. 8-ranked Georgia Bulldogs (46-11) welcome the Mercer Bears (23-23) to Athens on Wednesday for a doubleheader that is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. EDT.
Georgia holds a 6-0 all-time record against Mercer, including a 3-0 win in 2005.
Georgia's winning streak of 18 straight Southeastern Conference series came to an end on Sunday at the Alabama Softball Stadium as the Bulldogs dropped game three of its series against No. 4 Alabama, 4-1. Georgia posted a 5-4 come-from-behind win in game one before the Crimson Tide reeled off two straight wins.
Chelsea Cantillo hit .467 last week after going 7-for-15 with two runs, a triple, and an RBI. The freshman right-hander hit .500 in the Alabama series, going 5-for-10 with an RBI.
Kasi Carroll's (23-4) streak of 19 straight wins against a SEC opponent also came to an end on Sunday after the junior right-hander allowed three earned runs and six hits in 6.0 innings.
Mercer, who has already secured a berth in the Atlantic Sun Tournament, split a doubleheader with Florida Atlantic this past weekend.
Jamie Madruga leads the Bears with a .326 batting average.
Kati Rosentreter (15-10) has logged the majority of the innings in the circle for Mercer in 2006, posting a 1.88 ERA in 156.2 innings of work.
