No. 25 Georgia Bulldogs Hit The Road This Week
The Bulldogs (14-4 overall, 1-2 SEC), ranked No. 25 in this week's Baseball America Top 25, have four road games this week. Georgia faces Ga. State (9-11) in Marietta at the East Cobb Complex Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. and then resumes SEC play at 11th-ranked Arkansas (17-3, 1-2 SEC) Friday at 7:35 p.m. ET. The Bulldogs are 13-2 at home and 1-2 on the road this season. They recently completed a nine-game homestand where they went 7-2.
This will be the third straight year that the Bulldogs and Panthers will play one game in their series at the East Cobb Complex (For directions, click here.
Georgia won last year's meeting in Marietta 4-1. Meanwhile, the Razorbacks hold a 15-9 edge in the series with Georgia including 10-2 in Fayetteville. Georgia's last visit to Fayetteville came in 2003 and they dropped the first two before winning the series finale. The Bulldogs have not faced Arkansas since 2003. The Bulldogs and Razorbacks shared the 2004 SEC title and both made it to the College World Series. Georgia finished tied for third at the 2004 CWS.
Bulldog Offensive Leaders
Senior C Jason Jacobs is enjoying his best season as a Bulldog. He ranks second on the team in batting at .367. He entered 2006 with a .285 career batting average in 128 games. Meanwhile, junior DH Matt Robbins, who was honored earlier this year as the SEC Player of the Week, checks in with a team-best .393 average and 18 RBI. Junior 1B Josh Morris (.333-6-17) is slugging .750 with 11 of his 20 hits going for extra bases. Senior 2B Matthew Dunn (.349-0-4) hit .455 (5-for-11) in the series with Alabama. Junior CF Joey Side moved to the leadoff spot in the batting order on March 7th. Since the move, he is batting .359 (14-for-39) with nine runs scored and 11 RBI. Senior OF Bobby Felmy (.281-3-12) is riding an eight-game hitting streak. He batted .300-1-4 in the SEC series with Alabama this past weekend.
