This weekend begins Andy Landers' second most-favorite time of the year.
"With me, tournament time is second only to the beginning of practice in the fall," Landers said. "That, to me, is still the most exciting time of the year because you never know what the season will involve. As we tune up, this is a very exciting time to get back to the SEC Tournament and have an opportunity to play our friends again. It's always a great challenge."
Landers and his Lady Bulldogs travel to North Little Rock, Ark., for the Southeastern Conference Tournament at ALLTEL Arena. Georgia is the No. 3 seed in the bracket and - at 8:50 p.m. CT on Friday night - will face the winner of Thursday's first-round matchup between No. 6 seed Vanderbilt and No. 3 seed Alabama.
The Lady Bulldogs arrive in Arkansas - their second trip in eight days to The Natural State - on a high note. With its No. 3 seed already locked up, Georgia knocked off Auburn last Sunday to improve to 20-7 overall and 10-4 in SEC play.
Those numbers are relatively significant in traditional college basketball perspectives. Twenty wins is a milestone achievement for any program; however, for the Lady Bulldogs it's old hat. Georgia has now notched 20 or more wins during 22 of Landers' 27 seasons in Athens. The 2005-06 Lady Bulldogs secured the fifth double-digit SEC win tally since the league expanded to 12 teams during the 1991-92 season.
