The defending Southern Equestrian Champion Georgia Bulldogs will hit the road March 4 to attempt to close out the regular season unbeaten in dual meet competition as they take on their Southeastern conference rival Auburn Tigers.
"We have a chance to do something really special here," Georgia head coach Meghan Boenig said. "We should be ranked first in the SEC if we win at Auburn."
The Bulldogs defeated the defending national champion South Carolina Gamecocks in a dual meet at home on Feb. 25, but have not faced Auburn in any competiton since Georgia recorded a 1229-1219.5 victory over the Tigers at home on Nov. 11.
"It feels strange because it's been so long since we've seen Auburn," Boenig said. "They are coming off of a strong win against Baylor last weekend so neither team will have the luxury of two weeks to prepare for this competition."
Georgia will be represented in the English discipline by seniors Leigh Harper, Megan Richardson, Byerly Vaughn and Logan Fiorentino along with junior Rachel Berkowitz in equitation over fences. Sophomore Kelly Bonau will exhibition for the Bulldogs on the event while sophomore Lauren Hemingway will travel as the alternate. Richardson, Fiorentino, Vaughn and Bonau will be joined by sophomore Michelle Blair for Georgia's equitation line-up with Berkowitz serving as the alternate and senior Cherie Rector riding in exhibition on the event.
