Georgia's Robbins Named SEC Player Of The Week

ATHENS, Ga.--- University of Georgia junior Matt Robbins has been named the Southeastern Conference Baseball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Robbins, a native of Calhoun, Ga., batted .692 (9-for-13) with three doubles, two home runs and eight RBI in helping nationally-ranked Georgia go 4-0 last week.
For the year, the 6-2, 200-pound Robbins leads the Bulldogs in batting with a .444 average, has a team-high 18 RBI and a career-best six-game hitting streak. Robbins has made 11 starts as the designated hitter. He missed the 2005 season with mononucleosis but did earn SEC Academic Honor Roll distinction. As a freshman in 2004, he had 46 at bats in 21 games and hit .283 with one home run and nine RBI.
Currently, the Bulldogs are 11-2 and moving up the national polls. Georgia made its debut this week at No. 20 in the Baseball America Top 25 while the Bulldogs jumped five spots to No. 23 in the latest Collegiate Baseball Top 30 poll.
Georgia is back in action Tuesday when it plays host to Kennesaw State. First pitch at Foley Field will be at 7 p.m.
