The SEC Women’s Tennis Tournament has been held 19 times since 1982. The Bulldogs have won three titles (1983, 1994, 2001), finished second nine times and own a 35-16 mark in the event. Georgia last won the event in 2001 when it was held in Starkville, Miss.
At the 2006 SEC Tournament in Gainesville, Fla., the Bulldogs fell in the first round to a determined Tennessee squad. After Georgia won the doubles point and took a 3-0 lead, The Lady Volunteers stormed back to claim the next four matches and knock the Bulldogs out of the tournament.
The 2007 SEC Tournament will be played in Lexington, Ky., hosted by the University of Kentucky.
Georgia’s record against the SEC teams in the conference tournament are as follows: Alabama (1-0); Arkansas (1-0); Auburn (3-0); Florida (3-9), Kentucky (3-2), LSU (4-0); Miss. State (1-0); Ole Miss (6-2), South Carolina (3-1), Tennessee (10-1) and Vanderbilt (0-1).
