October 4, 1995 - Georgia Soccer earned its first-ever overtime win as the Soccer Dogs downed Mercer 2-1. Georgia has actually played three overtime games on Oct. 4. In 1996 the team defeated Davidson, 1-0, then tied 20th-ranked Washington on Oct. 4, 1998, 1-1.

October 4, 1997
- UGA football team improved to 4-0 for the first time since 1982 by defeating Mississippi State, 47-0. Mike Bobo threw for 257 yard and 3 TD’s and Robert Edwards chalked up 102 yards rushing led the Dawgs to victory.

Octrober 4, 1997 - Georgia's state-of-the-art practice facility at the UGA Golf Course is dedicated. The initial phase measures 300 yards by 100 yards and features eight target greens, three putting greens with bunkers plus numerous chipping and short game areas.
