October 10, 1981 - Herschel Walker rambled for 285 yards. on 41 carries to lead the UGA football team to a 37-7 drubbing of the Ole Miss Rebels.

October 10, 1994 - All-America women's tennis star Angela Lettiere received the prestigious Honda Award for her outstanding performance on and off the court. Lettiere was the 1994 NCAA singles champion and a consensus Player of the Year choice.
