GAINESVILLE, Fla. --- The subplots to No. 15 Georgia's 92-55 victory over No. 24 Florida on Sunday were plentiful. Sprinkled within the decisive win were milestones galore for senior Sherill Baker and sophomore Tasha Humphrey.
Baker became the all-time career steals leader in SEC history and also joined the NCAA's top-25 leaders in career thefts as well.
Humphrey, meanwhile, became the 26th Lady Bulldog to reach 1,000 career points, doing so in the second-fastest pace in Georgia history. It took the sophomore from Gainesville just 52 games to ascend to that mark, second only to the 46-game progression of four-time All-American Janet Harris.
Humphrey finished with 30 points, her second 30-point night in the Lady Dogs' last three games, and grabbed 10 rebounds to record her ninth double-double of the season. For good measure, she chipped in a career-high six steals.
Baker and Humphrey took care of their initial milestone pursuits in expeditious fashion in consecutive possessions. Humphrey scored on a layup at the 11:22 mark of the first half to reach the millennium plateau. On Florida's next possession, Baker collected a steal to move out of a tie with Mississippi State's Tan White as the league's career leader.
More importantly, those plays sparked what eventually was an 18-2 run which turned a four-point deficit into a 31-19 lead with 6:23 left in the half. The Lady Dogs eventually pushed the advantage to 19 points at 45-26 with 2:54 left in the period before settling for an 18-point cushion at the break.
