ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia Bulldogs (12-6, 2-3 SEC) downed Ole Miss (13-4, 3-1) 72-65 in Stegeman Coliseum on Saturday evening. Led by freshman Mike Mercer's 14 points, the Bulldogs won the first of four straight games versus SEC West teams.

The Bulldogs were able to distance themselves enough to clinch their 12th win of the season midway through the second half. After the Rebels managed to take their first lead of the game at 47-46, Georgia freshman Billy Humphrey drilled a 3-pointer, which was his only field goal of the game, to regain the lead for his team with 9:30 left in the game. Following Humphrey's shot and five more Georgia points in a row, Ole Miss never threatened the lead again.

Unlike their performance against Kentucky on Jan. 17, the Bulldogs' big men led their team to a victory versus the Rebels by scoring 28 points and tallying five blocks (three from freshman center Rashaad Singleton). Sophomore guard Sundiata Gaines also contributed in the win with 12 points, seven rebounds and four steals.
