Cathy Brown, PhD, M.A., ATC

Cathy Brown joined the athletic training faculty at UGA in August of 2006 as an assistant professor after finishing both her PhD (2006) and MA (2002) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Cathy acts as clinical coordinator for the athletic training education program and teaches several courses in the program. She has been a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) since 2000 and provided medical coverage for a variety of collegiate sports teams including gymnastics, softball, and baseball. Cathy is also a Clinical Instructor Educator and a Red Cross Instructor and is licensed by the Georgia Board of Athletic Trainers. She is currently teaching the Lower Extremity Evaluation, Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries, and Clinical Practicum courses. Cathy completed her BA in 2000 at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, majoring in Exercise Science. Her research interests include the biomechanics of lower extremity sports injuries, particularly chronic ankle instability, with a secondary interest in sports-related concussion. She will pursue this research agenda in conjunction with the Biomechanics Laboratory and the Athletic Training Laboratory.
