ATHENS --- The 13th-ranked Georgia football team continued preparations for the upcoming SEC Championship Game against third-ranked LSU by working out for just less than two hours in shorts at Sanford Stadium on Thursday. The Bulldogs next practice will come at the Georgia Dome on Friday at 3 p.m.
This will be the Bulldogs' third SEC Championship game in four years. During its first trip to the Georgia Dome, Georgia beat Arkansas 30-3 and Georgia coach Mark Richt has been attempting this week to prepare his team for a similar finale.
"We're excited to be in this game and I feel like we had a good week at practice," Richt said. "We did some fairly good things on Tuesday out there and our scout team really helped us out on Wednesday."
While Richt and his staff have been preparing the team for the SEC Championship, he expects the other 10 schools in the Southeastern Conference that are not in the SEC Championship have been on the road recruiting. But according to Richt, advancing to this weekend's title game also provides Georgia's football program with plenty of exposure to high school athletes across the country.
"I think it's important to the players you are recruiting that they know they have a chance to play in a game this big," Richt said.
Kickoff is set for 6 p.m., and the game will be televised by CBS. All Georgia games are broadcast live on the Bulldog Radio Network on News/Talk 750 WSB-AM in Atlanta and 106.1 FM and 960 The Ref in Athens. Also, the games can be heard on georgiadogs.com, the official website of UGA Athletics as well.
