Georgia Volleyball Recruiting Class Receives National Recognition

ATHENS, Ga. --- The 2005 recruiting class for the Georgia volleyball team was recently named one of the nation's best by Prepvolleyball.com. A group of Division I coaches ranks the classes for the web site and Georgia earned the label of High Honorable Mention.
The Bulldogs will welcome three freshmen to their 2005 roster, including Audra Janak, Anjelica Partridge and Maria Taylor.
Janak, a 5-8, setter from Dallas, Texas, was selected to the 2004-05 4A/5A All-Star Team by the Texas Girls Coaches Association. She was also selected to the 11-4A All-District Elite Team as Outstanding Setter. Janak was a setter and defensive specialist during Highland Park High School's 2003 State Runner-up season and received the Gatorade Will to Win Athlete Award. Janak plays club volleyball for the Dallas Skyline Juniors RoShamBo teams. Her club team finished tied for fifth in the Club National Division at the Junior Olympic Nationals and was ranked third in Texas in 2004.
Partridge, a 6-1, middle blocker from Chattanooga, Tenn., was a member of the Jr. Olympic Youth Development Team, which trains for international competition at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Partridge led Notre Dame High School to the 2004 State Final Four and was named to the All-Tournament team. One Chattanooga publication called her the "most widely recruited area volleyball player ever."
Taylor, a 6-2, outside hitter from Alpharetta, Ga., was a member of the 2004 USA Volleyball Junior National A-2 team. Taylor was a two-sport star in volleyball and basketball at Centennial High School and was named All-State in both sports. A highly touted basketball player, Taylor was named to the Atlanta Tip-Off Team of the Year. She was nominated for the Wendy's High School Heisman by her high school and was also named the Fulton County Scholar Athlete of the Year.
