Clemson, S.C. -- Georgia defeated Clemson 4-1 thanks in part to a stellar pitching performance by junior Mickey Westphal Wednesday in front of a crowd of 4,394.

Westphal (2-0) tossed seven scoreless innings only allowing four hits while striking out two and walking one en route to the win as the Bulldogs (17-12) swept the two-game set over the Tigers (15-13. Also, it marked Georgia's first win here at Clemson since 1993.Westphal posted the longest outing by a Georgia starter this season. Sophomore Jonathan Wyatt paced the Dogs offensively going 2-3 with two RBI.

"We got a tremendous pitching performance from Mickey Westphal, and we're really proud of him," said Georgia coach David Perno. "He has come back from shoulder surgery and has been sharp the last two times out. We got some timely hitting again including from Jonathan (Wyatt), and that's a good sign. Any time you beat Clemson no matter where it is, it's a hard fought game."

In the second inning, Brandon Lowe drew a leadoff walk and advanced to second on sacrifice bunt by Jason Jacobs. With two-outs in the inning, Wyatt belted a run scoring single to right putting the Bulldogs up 1-0.

Georgia added three more runs in the fourth. Josh Morris singled, moved to second on a groundout, and then came around to score when Jacobs reached on a throwing error by Clemson pitcher Stephen Faris. After Derek Smith reached on a fielder's choice, Wyatt delivered a two-out RBI double over the reach of Tiger right fielder Travis Storrer. On the season, Wyatt has come through in the clutch with eight of his 12 RBI coming with two outs, five of which came in the two-game set versus Clemson. Kyle Keen followed with a RBI double of his own that scored another run stretching the Georgia lead to 4-0.
