Tasha Humphrey Named All-America, Freshman All-America

Athens, Ga. --- Tasha Humprhey may now be the most decorated freshman player in the history of Georgia Lady Bulldog Basketball. On Friday, the 6-3, Gainesville, Ga., native was named to both All-America and Freshman All-America teams.
Humphrey, who is expected to be a leading candidate for National Player of the Year honors next season, was named third-team All-America by Full Court Press and was tabbed to the Freshman All-American team of gballmag.com. Both organizations are internet-based web sites dedicated to women's basketball.
"We have a long history of freshmen who have made significant contributions to our program, but what Tasha did this season would be hard to match," head coach Andy Landers said. "She came in with high expectations surrounding her and I certainly think she's lived up to those. We're looking for even bigger things in the future."
Previously, Humphrey was honored as National Freshman of the Year by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association and selected as SEC Freshman of the Year by both league coaches and media. She was one of only two players named first-team All-SEC in balloting of both league coaches and media and was a unanimous choice to the Freshman All-SEC squad as well. During the post-season, Humphrey was named to both the All-SEC Tournament team and the NCAA Tournament's All-Chattanooga Regional squad.
Humphrey is the only Lady Bulldog ever to earn National Freshman of the Year, All-America, first-team All-SEC, All-SEC Tournament and NCAA All-Regional accolades.
Humphrey led Georgia in scoring (19.0 ppg), rebounding (8.4 rpg), blocks (1.1) and field goal percentage (.561). Among SEC statistical leaders Humphrey finished third in scoring and field goal percentage, fifth in rebounding and ninth in free throw percentage and blocks. Her 628 points fell just 35 shy of Janet Harris' Lady Bulldog freshman scoring record.
