ATHENS, Ga. --- The No. 13-ranked Georgia Bulldogs (25-7, 9-0 SEC) extended their winning streak to 13 games and remained undefeated in Southeastern Conference play on Sunday after earning a 4-1 win over the No. 15-ranked LSU Tigers (17-8, 1-5 SEC) at the UGA Soccer/Softball Complex.
Georgia's 4-1 win on Sunday marked the first time in Southeastern Conference softball history that LSU has been swept in a three-game conference series. Jessica Doucette paced Georgia offensively after going 3-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI. Megan McAllister and Katie Vickers also contributed RBI hits.
The Bulldogs capitalized with runners in scoring position in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. Jessica Gilmore reached base on a one-out error and advanced to second base on Kim Wendland's single to center field. McAllister advanced both runners two bases after doubling to right center field, scoring Gilmore. Doucette followed with an RBI single that scored Charvi Greer.
Georgia extended its lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the third inning after Doucette scored on a throwing error by pitcher Megan Jolly.
