Dooley and Pollack to Receive Awards

Former University of Georgia head football coach and director of athletics Vince Dooley will receive the 2005 Francis J. "Reds" Bagnell Award Friday night, March 4, at the annual banquet of the Maxwell Club in Atlantic City, N.J.
The award is given annually for Contributions to the Game of Football by the Maxwell Club which is headquartered in Philadelphia, Pa.
Also at the banquet, UGA three-time All-America David Pollack will receive the Chuck Bednarik Award as the nation's top defensive player.
The "Reds" Bagnell Award was first given in 1989 and goes to an individual who has made a special impact on the game of football. Former winners include former NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle, Penn State coach Joe Paterno, Pittsburgh Steelers owner Dan Rooney, former ABC TV president Don Ohlmeyer, American Football League founder Lamar Hunt, and Grambling football coach Eddie Robinson.
