LEXINGTON, Ky. --- The No. 13-ranked Georgia Bulldogs (19-7, 3-0 SEC) open a three-game set on Tuesday with the Kentucky Wildcats (12-16, 1-2 SEC) after earning a three-game sweep over Mississippi State (17-11, 0-3 SEC) on Sunday. Georgia currently holds a 24-7 all-time record against Kentucky, including a three-game sweep over the Wildcats in Athens last season. First pitch for Tuesday's doubleheader is slated for 1 p.m. EST.
The Bulldogs enter the week having earned wins in 16 out of their last 18 games. Georgia's three wins against Mississippi State over the weekend marked the first three-game sweep over the Bulldogs in school history. Georgia also earned a doubleheader sweep over Charlotte on March 9, highlighted by a school-record 23-run outing while no-hitting the 49ers in game two. Georgia's 23 runs, 22 hits, 23 RBI and 38 total bases in game two set new school records.
Senior first baseman Kim Wendland paced the Georgia offense against Mississippi State after going 8-for-11 with two runs, three doubles, an RBI and a stolen base. Freshman outfielder Jessica Gilmore batted .500 over the weekend after going 5-for-10 with six runs, two doubles and four RBI. Junior outfielder Ashley Godfrey also contributed three hits, including a double and a grand slam.
