LOUISVILLE, KY. --- Louisville defeated 13th-ranked Georgia 7-4 here Sunday at Cardinal Stadium.

The Cardinals (8-5) jumped on Georgia starter Brooks Brown in the first, sending 10 men to the plate and building a 6-0 advantage. A two-run single by Jorge Castillo and a three-run triple by shortstop Chris Cates keyed the outburst. Boomer Whiting reached on an error by Josh Morris to start the frame and then Nick Haley singled and Logan Johnson's run-scoring double made it 1-0 Cardinals.

The Bulldogs (10-5), who left a season-high 13men on base, got two runs back in the top of the second as Louisville starter Justin Valdes had some control problems plus Castillo made a couple of errors on one play. Georgia junior catcher Jason Jacobs walked and scored on a fielder's choice by Brandon Masters. Masters stole second and came home on a base hit by sophomore left fielder Jonathan Wyatt. Georgia cut the deficit to 6-4 in the third as they chased Valdes who walked six in 2.1 innings. The Bulldogs loaded the bases with one out as the Cardinals turned to Griffin Bailey. Adam McDaniel bounced one to second that brought home a run on the fielder's choice and with two outs, Masters lined a single to center, scoring Jacobs. Bailey hit Josh Smith to load the bases, but then he got Wyatt to groundout to end any further damage.
