NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. -- University of Georgia defensive end David Pollack will be one of the first college football players invited to participate in The Pacific Club Mentoring Program, announced Tuesday by the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation. The Pacific Club has extended invitations to Pollack, winner of the inaugural Lott Trophy, and fellow finalists Derrick Johnson of Texas and Jim Leonhard of Wisconsin, to participate.

To honor the excellence of The Lott Trophy finalists, both on the field and in their community, The Pacific Club has created a Mentoring Program to assist the transition from college to professional life. The Pacific Club will assign a mentor to each finalist. The mentor will remain the Finalists contact person for a period of three years.

"The mentor will be available for communication on any number of issues that may arise during this important transitional period," said James R. Quandt, President of the Pacific Club. "The mentor is not a salesman, and seeks neither compensation nor reward. The purpose of The Pacific Club Mentoring Program is to provide a support system to these fine individuals."
