Georgia Falls To Clemson, 59-42

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Sharrod Ford scored 16 points to lead Clemson to a 59-42 victory over Georgia on Wednesday night.

Cheyenne Moore added 12 points and Cliff Hammonds had 11 for the Tigers (12-12), who need three more wins over their final five games to qualify for the NIT.

Sundiata Gaines had 11 points and Dave Bliss nine for Georgia (7-15), which played with only five scholarship players. The Bulldogs played walk-on guards Jay McAuley and Kevin Brophy for more than 37 minutes each.

Leading 30-27 with less than 15 minutes left, Clemson put together a 27-9 run to widen the lead to 57-36 with 2:36 left to play.

During that time, the Tigers held Georgia without a field goal for nearly ten minutes and scoreless for more than six.

Each team struggled on offense in the first half with Clemson shooting just 41.7 percent from the field and the Bulldogs at 34.8 percent.

Clemson took a 30-22 halftime lead.
