STARKVILLE, Miss.-----The Georgia and Mississippi State volleyball teams picked up where they left of on Sept. 25 - tied at one game apiece and 3-3 in game three - and completed their suspended match on Saturday night at the Newell-Grissom Building.
MSU (13-10, 4-9 SEC) won both games played tonight, earning an official 3-1 (30-22, 27-30, 30-20, 30-28) victory over Georgia (9-14, 4-9).
Tornadoes in the Starkville area caused the suspension when the teams met earlier this year.
Both teams were forced to resume the match with the same player rotations from the September meeting, which is not the lineup Georgia has used in recent weeks.
"Those rotations did disrupt our flow," said Georgia head coach Steffi Legall. "It's not the strongest rotation we have, and we struggled with that. I still think we played very competitive, especially in game four. We had our chances but (MSU) put some pressure on us with their serve and they came up with the one or two points that they needed.
"We have to move on from this immediately. We knew it would be a difficult road trip and right now we have to look at Alabama. Our team is excited to play Alabama, and we know it will be a good match," Legall said.
Georgia's match with the Crimson Tide is set for 3 p.m. CT on Sunday in Tuscaloosa.
