After a redshirt season a year ago, Alexis Morgan is in her first year of live action with the Bulldogs. She opened the year with a career-high six blocks in two of Georgia's first three matches and added a career-high five kills in a win over Grambling. More recently, Morgan entered late in Georgia's match with Florida and finished with four blocks including three in the final game.
As a prep star, Morgan lettered three years in volleyball at Champaign Central High School in Champaign, Ill. She was an All-State Honorable Mention and led her high school team to a region title as a junior.
Q: How much more exciting is it to come to the gym ready to play after last year's redshirt season?
A: It is very exciting. I feel as if I have a chance to contribute to the team.
Q: What was the most important thing you learned during that year?
A: To be patient. Steffi [Legall, Head Coach] and Jen [McGurn, Assistant Coach] really helped me during that time.
Q: You are originally from Illinois. How did you make it to Georgia and what appealed to you?
A: The team and the coaching staff appealed to me. I was attracted to the Southern atmosphere. It's different, but I love it.
Q: Now that you've been at UGA for a little while, can you tell me something you enjoy doing off the court.
A: Hanging out with friends...after studying of course.
