Gym Dogs Complete First Full Beam-Intrasquad

Yesterday the Gym Dogs held their first full beam intrasquad, complete with dance and all skills except for dismounts. There was limited participation however due to numerous nagging injuries. Out of the intrasquad competition yesterday were freshman Tiffany Tolnay, Nikki Childs, and Ashley Kupets, all with complaints about their backs; Kelsey Ericksen with her wrist; and Megan Dowlen, who recently underwent minor surgery on her elbow.
Scores from the girls who competed yesterday are as follows (with no dismounts): Abby Stack scored a 9.75; freshman Paige Burns and Audrey Bowers received 9.8's; Brittany Smith with a 9.85; a 9.9 for Katie Heenan, and Courtney Kupets with a 9.95.
"I was very pleased as we just began doing full skill routines with all of the dance, AND I AM A TOUGH JUDGE," commented coach Suzanne Yoculan. "I love the new routines and the difficulty level is higher than it has ever been. Courtney, Audrey and Paige hit lay-lay! When we get the dismounts in the routines, they will be really great! Courtney, Katie, Tiffany, Abby and Brittany will all start out the season dismounting with a double back. If we cannot improve the landing deductions by mid season, then we will drop back to their alternate dismounts."
