Summer League Update on the Diamond Dogs

ATHENS - A handful of Diamond Dogs are scattered around the country working and playing baseball and pitching has been the story in the wood bat summers leagues.

Along with the Bulldogs playing locally for the Athens Pirates, Georgia has players in the Cape Cod League, Coastal Plain League, Great Lakes League, New England Collegiate Baseball League and the Valley League.

Rising junior and Athens native Bo Lanier has been a relief ace for the Hyannis (Mass.) Mets in the Cape Cod League. He has not allowed an earned run in eight appearances, posting a 1-0 mark and five saves. Like most hitters, rising junior centerfielder Kyle Keen is adjusting to the wood bat as he is batting .218 for the Mets. Rising junior left fielder Bobby Felmy has started to heat up for the Cotuit Kettleers, owning a .270 batting average.
