A Briefing on the Bulldogs...
The Bulldogs are coming off their highest point total ever at the SEC Outdoor Championships, scoring a program record 115 points to place third. That point total bettered the 2003 team which also finished third, but with 89 points. Lucais Mackay was the lone SEC Champion on the men's side. MacKay won the hammer throw and also placed second in the discus for 18 points. A number of other Bulldogs contributed. LaRon Bennett was third in the 400-meter hurdles, seventh in the 110-meter hurdles and helped the 400-meter- and 1,600-meter relay teams to fifth- and third-place finishes, respectively. Simon Ngata set a school record in the 1,500 meters (3:42.82) to place fifth and also finished third in the 5,000 meters. The Bulldogs scored three each in the discus (MacKay, Bradford Williams-3rd and Chad McClendon-4th), 110-hurdles (Esteban Guzman-5th, Bennett and Donte Bolden-8th) and 5,000-meters (Ngata, Ian Dickinson-6th and Philip Bett-7th). Bett also finished second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Other medalists included Mike Swope (10,000 meters-3rd) and Trevor Snyder (javelin-3rd).
