Washington 3, Georgia 1
Washington Co-Head Coach Scott Centala:
(On why Washington was successful):"Our kids played with a lot of passion and emotion and that's what will carry them through this tournament.
(On Georgia's Softball program): "They are extremely talented. Lu has brought in some great recruits and she has another great class coming in. They have the best stadium in the country without a doubt. Things are looking good for Georgia."
Washington Co-Head Coach Steve Dailey:
"I said the other day after the UTC game that this infield would come into play sooner or later and it did today. (Dena) Tyson's hit that drove in the winning run bounced hard off that infield and allowed the run to score. I'm really proud of the girls. This was a hard fought game but they came in here and won the game on their terms."
(On the tournament pairings and playing out of the winner's bracket): "This region had the toughest one-two pairing. We knew it was going to be hard-fought. It really helped to be in the winner's bracket here. Knowing they had to get two was huge. Seeing Georgia play Georgia Tech last night helped a ton. We saw some things that helped us out."
Washington So., RF, Dena Tyson:
"I was having a tough tournament until today. Coach and I had been working on a few things every day before we played. He told me exactly what was coming in the last at bat and I hit it up the middle."
Georgia Head Coach Lu Harris-Champer
"It's been a good year. I'm proud of our team for playing with so much heart. I'm so proud of the team and the three seniors on this team."
(On final innings after tying the game): "The ball just bounced their way at that time. (Nicole) Barber had a hard liner in the last inning that was caught. That's just the way it went today."
Georgia, Fr., P, Kasi Carroll (On the sixth inning):
"We showed some fight. At that time I think we came back stronger and stronger. It was a great effort by Jade (Jarvis) and everyone in front of her."
"(Washington) played a great game. We both played a great game. Our defense played awesome. (Towards the end) I was excited to go back in the dugout. I knew we would fight back."
