ATHENS, Ga.----The Georgia softball team knocked off Georgia Tech 9-1 in six innings at the UGA Softball Stadium on Saturday night to advance to the NCAA Regional championship game Sunday at noon.
The second-seeded Bulldogs will face top-seed Washington and must win two straight games to move on to the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City next week, as Washington enters the finals undefeated in the double-elimination tourney.
"I am looking forward to playing in front of our home fans on Sunday with the chance to go to the College World Series," said Georgia head coach Lu Harris-Champer.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth when Courtney Knight got the Bulldogs' offense started with a one-out triple. She scored on a Julie Milner single and Milner later scored on a Megan McAllister single.
