No. 9 Georgia Sweeps Charlotte in Doubleheader

ATHENS, Ga. -- The No. 9-ranked Georgia Bulldogs (43-11, 17-7 SEC) pounded out 19 runs in a doubleheader against the Charlotte 49ers (18-22, 4-11 C-USA) on Wednesday, winning game one, 17-2, before taking the nightcap, 2-0. The Bulldogs established a school-record with 17 runs in a game in the afternoon contest. Georgia also set a season-high with 17 hits in a game.

Outfielder Julie Milner paced the Bulldogs offensively in both games after going 4-for-6 with a home run and seven RBI. Infielder Ashley Godfrey was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a triple and four RBI. Shortstop Katie Lewis finished the night with four hits in six plate appearances, collecting an RBI and two stolen bases. Michelle Green (16-3) earned the win in game one for Georgia after relieving starter Katie Griffith in the second inning. Green recorded four innings of work, scattering three hits and one run, striking out five. Kasi Carroll (12-4) recorded the win in game two after throwing her fifth complete game shutout of the season, scattering five hits and striking out seven.
