The No. 5-ranked Georgia Bulldogs travel to Gainesville on Friday to take on the No. 13 Florida Gators in a three-game Southeastern Conference series that begins on Saturday. Game three will be televised by Fox Sports Net on Sunday. The Bulldogs and Gators enter the weekend in first and second-place, respectively, in the Eastern Division. Both teams have accumulated the best overall records in the conference.
Georgia is currently on a seven-game winning streak, having won 21 out of its last 23 games, including two wins over No. 6 LSU in Baton Rouge and a 4-1 win over No. 22 Georgia Tech on Wednesday. Freshmen pitchers Kasi Carroll and Katie Griffith have earned wins in six out of the last seven games for the Bulldogs. First baseman Kim Wendland currently leads the SEC in batting average (.475), RBI (56), doubles (16), and is second in the conference in slugging percentage (.814), on base percentage (.546), hits (56), and total bases (96).
Florida (34-6) enters the weekend after sweeping a three-game series from Auburn on Wednesday. Melissa Zick leads all Florida hitters with a .353 batting average with 11 doubles and 15 RBI. Jenny Gladding (17-4) has logged the majority of the innings (151.1) for Florida, compiling a 0.79 ERA with 215 strikeouts.
