Q: When the Dawgs play the Braves do they have to use wood bats?
Jeff Patton
Valdosta, Ga.

A: Yes, we use wood bats that the Braves provide. While we use aluminum bats during the regular season, a lot of the summer leagues our players are in now use wood bats so it won't be the first time for them.

Q: Who is the second baseman this year and how does the team stand for this season?
Bobby Herring
Quitman, Ga.

A: Junior Marshall Szabo is a three-year starter there plus we've got sophomore Jason Jacobs and freshman Brandon Masters who will see some time too. As far as our team, we're 7-2 and we have a lot of potential. Our pitching is solid, and we're off to a good start.

Q: What do you think about the community "travel teams" that have kids playing 50-70 games a season? I have seen teams as young as eight years of age playing during the spring and summer. Are we hurting our pitchers by doing this or is more playing time better? Also, since I live in Birmingham, please make the SEC tournament this year!
Bill Morris
Birmingham, Ala.
