Q: When does the team begin and end its season routine of meals together, required study halls, etc. - or does it basically continue year round? Thanks for the emphasis you have brought to the program.

A: Team breakfast and study hall are somthing that we do all year during the Fall and Spring semesters. Thanks for your support!
Q: The play of Jonas Hayes this year has been steady unlike in years past. What have you done to motivate him and keep him motivated during crucial points of the game?

A: A lot of screaming!! No, I'm just joking! Seriously speaking, I believe it is really important for a coach to be able to effectively communicate to his players in a way that permits them to understand exactly what it is that we are working to accomplish and how we plan on achieving these goals. I work at gaining an understanding of each player's perspective so I can determine his path to learning and understanding. It is also critical that I am always extremely honest and sincere so the players give credibility to what I'm saying. In this same context, I also go out of my way to explain the reasons why we do the things we do so the players are empowered with understanding and feel invested and therefore can be motivated to do all they can to make it happen. Jonas is a beautiful young man who was very easy to relate to and communicate with. A big part of it was making sure he understood how important his performance was to our teams success along with knowing he was capable of doing more. Lovell, thanks for your question!
