Thomas Named To Wade Watch List

Athens, Ga. --- Georgia's Christi Thomas is among the 30 players who have been identified as leading pre-season candidates for the 2003-04 State Farm Wade Trophy and NCAA Division I Player of the Year honors. Beth Bass, CEO of the Womens Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), recently announced the list.
Thomas, a 6-5, senior from Buford, Ga., anchors a veteran Georgia lineup which will welcome back four starters and four additional letterwinners from last season's 21-10 team which advanced to the "Sweet 16" of the NCAA Tournament. As a junior, Thomas averaged team highs of 16.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game en route to earning second-team All-SEC recognition from both league coaches and media.
This summer, Thomas was a member of the U.S. Young Women National Team which captured a gold medal at the FIBA World Championship for Young Women, a competition comprised of players 21 and younger. She earned a spot on the All-Tournament team at the World Championships while averaging 7.6 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.
