Athens, Ga. --- Alexis Kendrick, a 5-7 guard from Inglewood, Calif., has been named first-team Freshman All-America by WomensCollegeHoops.com, the web site announced on Tuesday.

"It's a blessing and really incredible to be recognized among so many freshmen," Kendrick said. "I'm really appreciative of this honor, but without the veterans on our team like Tina Taylor and Mary Beth (Lycett) and Christi (Thomas) we wouldn't have gotten as far as we did. Their leadership really helped us."

Kendrick averaged 12.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.8 steals for the Lady Dogs. More impressive, however, were Kendrick's statistics against Southeastern Conference competition, where she averaged 14.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game. She ranked among SEC individual leaders for statistics versus conference teams in no less than seven categories -- every stat except rebounds, blocks and field goal percentage.
