Georgia Defeats Bethune-Cookman In Georgia Home Tournament

Athens, Ga. ----- The Georgia Bulldog softball team got back to its winning ways tonight with a 6-0 win over Bethune-Cookman in the Georgia Home Tournament at the Women's Athletic Complex on Saturday. The No. 2 seed Bulldogs' win advances them into Sunday's championship game with the No. 1 seed North Carolina.

The Bulldogs (46-9) manufactured three runs in the first inning after Nicole Barber led off with a single. After stealing second base, Barber advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt off the bat of Katie Lewis. One batter later, Kim Wendland laced a single up the middle to score Barber from third. Wendland advanced to third after two consecutive stolen bases. Shannon McKeon was hit by a pitch, putting runners at first and third for Courtney Knight. Knight plated Wendland and McKeon with two with a triple into the right center gap.
