ATHENS -- Georgia completed a two-game sweep of Liberty with an 8-3 victory Sunday at Foley Field.

The Bulldogs (9-4) have won four straight and eight of their last nine while the Flames drop to 3-7 overall. Junior Matt Woods improved to 1-2 with 3.2 innings of scoreless relief while Liberty starter Micahel Schaeffer fell to 0-2 after allowing six runs on six hits in 5.2 innings.

For the second day in a row, Liberty struck first with a solo home run, this time from centerfielder Jeremiah Boles with one out in the fourth. The Bulldogs answered with four runs on three hits and a Flame error in the bottom half of the frame. Georgia collected six stolen bases on the day including three in that inning.

The Flames cut the deficit to 4-3 in the top of the fifth, chasing starter Mickey Westhpahl following Larry Wayne's two-run single. Woods came on and extinguished the Flames until the ninth before giving way to freshman Brent Benefield who closed it out.

Marshall Szabo (2-for-4, 2 RBI), Justin Holmes (2-for-3, RBI) and Justin McClain (2-for-3, RBI) paced the Bulldogs offensively. McClain, Jon Armitage and Ned Yost also drove in runs with a sacrifice fly apiece.

The Bulldogs return to action Tuesday for the first of a two-game set with Austin Peay State. First pitch at Foley Field is slated for 5:30 pm.
