Mississippi State Tops Georgia, 76-71

Starkville, Miss. -- Georgia's Lady Bulldogs led for all but 38 seconds of the second half of their matchup with No. 11 Mississippi State on Thursday night in Starkville. Unfortunately, those came at the end of the contest in a 76-71 victory for State.

With the loss, No. 14 Georgia falls to 18-8 overall and 9-4 in the SEC. State improved to 21-6 and 9-4 as well.

Tan White hit a three-pointer from the right with to give State a 72-71 lead, its first advantage of the second stanza with 38 second remaining. The jumper completed an unlikely four-point trip which in which Georgia lost a three-point advantage. Blessing Chekwa missed the second of two free throws badly and State grabbed the long rebound. White quickly nailed the wide-open three.

On Georgia's ensuing possession, Jessica Pierce missed a three from the top of the key and State again collected the rebound. After Doceide Warren hit two free throws to put State up 74-71, Alexis Kendrick missed a three-point attempt to tie the game.
