Georgia Prepares For SEC Championships

The Georgia track and field program will have a weekend off from competition before traveling to Gainesville for the SEC Indoor Championships Feb. 28-Mar. 2. The Championships will be held at the University of Florida's O'Connell Center.

Guzman Breaks School Hurdles Record

Freshman Esteban Guzman broke the UGA 60 meter hurdles record with his time of 7.92 in the finals at the Virginia Tech Challenge. Ken Garrett set the previous record of 7.94 at the 2001 SEC Championships.

UGA Posts Six Wins at Va. Tech Challenge

Georgia athletes totaled six wins at the Virginia Tech Challenge over the weekend. Junior Lucais MacKay posted his fourth-straight weight throw win on the season with a Rector Fieldhouse record of 20.62 meters (67'7.75"). Junior Fanni Juhasz recorded her second pole vault win of the season (4.15m/13'7.50"). Junior Hyleas Fountain won the 60 meter hurdles finals (8.49) and high jump (1.77m/5'9.75"). The women's 4x400 meter relay team of redshirt junior Traci Boyd, freshman Jasmine Dixon, junior Illia Miles and junior Sherita King won the event in a season-best time of 3:45.26. The men's 4x400 meter relay team of sophomore LaRon Bennett, redshirt sophomore Bernard Foster, sophomore Shaun Foster and freshman Rodney Almond won the event in a season-best time of 3:13.75.
