Regular Season Tips Off Friday vs. Western Carolina

Dogs, Catamounts Tip Off
Georgia embarks upon the 2003-04 basketball season this Friday night when the Bulldogs play host to Western Carolina. The two teams will take the floor as soon as possible after the conclusion of the Georgia women's contest against Georgia State, which tips off at 6:00 p.m.

The Bulldogs hope to be somewhat closer to full strength when Friday night arrives. They've played two exhibition games over the past 10 days, each time with an abbreviated roster because of injuries. Most important of those is that of senior forward Jonas Hayes. His high ankle sprain has caused him to miss all but the first week of the preseason, including both exhibition games. Hayes is expected to return to active duty by week's end. The status of freshman forward Corey Gibbs, however, remains uncertain as the regular season approaches. Unable to put consistent pressure on his mended left knee, Gibbs hasn't yet gone through an entire workout with his teammates.
