Petruschke Named SEC Volleyball Player of the Week

ATHENS, Ga. -- Georgia sophomore Julia Petruschke has been named SEC Volleyball Player of the Week the conference office announced Monday.

Petruschke led the Bulldogs (15-11, 8-6) to a 1-1 record last week, defeating LSU in three games on Friday before losing in four games to Arkansas on Sunday. She finished the win over LSU with a game-high 14 kills and just one attack error, and against Arkansas she had her 15th double-double of the year with 23 kills and 10 digs.

The Dresden, Germany, native is second in the SEC with 4.38 kills per game and fourth overall with 412 total kills. She already has 1,077 total kills in her young career.

This is Petruschke's third SEC Player of the Week honor of her career and the first in 2004. Earlier this year Georgia's Rashinda Reed was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week and Alexandra Oquendo earned a Player of the Week award.
