Athens, Ga. --- Georgia Lady Bulldog basketball coach Andy Landers will host his annual coaches clinic on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Stegeman Coliseum from 10:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
"I think this clinic will be good for everyone involved," Landers said. "The coaches and players in attendance will hopefully glean a new technique or idea. Our coaches and players will get to interact with other coaches from around the state and beyond."
Landers, a four-time National Coach of the Year, enters his 25th season at Georgia this fall 15 victories shy of his 600th win with the Lady Bulldogs. He has averaged 24.4 wins a season at UGA, the second-best average of all NCAA Division I womens head coaches with as much tenure.
In addition, Van Chancellor, a three-time WNBA Coach of the Year and head coach of the 2004 U.S. Olympic Team, will serve as a guest lecturer.
"It's the first time we've brought in a guest lecturer and I can't think of anyone better than Van," Landers said. "He's terrific with people and obviously a great basketball coach with a lot to share. He loves teaching, and I'm sure he'll enjoy taking part as much as the coaches will enjoy hearing him speak."
The clinic itinerary includes the following topics: favorite SEC offenses, inbounds plays, zone and press offenses and man-to-man and zone defenses. Coaches also will attend the Lady Bulldogs' practice that afternoon. Each participant will receive a Nike coaching packet, clinic notes, a tour of Stegeman Coliseum facilities and a catered lunch. Cost is $20 for coaches who pre-register or $25 for coaches who register on-site.
