Q: Who do you see replacing the departed starters at first base, third base and the outfield this coming season?
Paul Nolan
Atlanta, Ga.

A: First of all, let me say that we're looking forward to seeing what the new guys can do at those spots because we feel like they have a lot of potential. I'll start in the outfield and right now, it's looking like sophomore transfer Bobby Felmy in centerfield and sophomore Kyle Keen, who had a great summer, in left field are the leaders there with a three-man battle in right field between freshmen Jonathan Wyatt, Josh Morris and Joey Side. At the corners, junior Josh Smith has shown in his career that he can play just about anywhere and we've got him and sophomore Jason Jacobs at third base. Josh has played shortstop and left field in his Bulldog career while Jason is the best athlete on the team. He is our backup catcher but look for him at third some too. At first base, we're looking at a few people. We need to get some good production and the leaders at that spot are sophomore Chad Thornhill and transfer Derek Smith from Appalachian State.
