Georgia Volleyball Improves Record to .500

Wichita, Kan.----The Georgia volleyball team improved its season record to 2-2 with a 3-0 (30-17, 30-19, 30-16) win over New Mexico in the final game of the Green Mill Restaurant Volleyball Classic on Saturday evening.
Sophomore Jennie Metz finished the three-game win with 11 kills and a .625 hitting percentage. Freshman Julia Petruschke was again the Bulldogs' leader in kills with 19.
Petruschke finished the four-team tournament first in total kills (91), 21 more than the next closest player. Her efforts earned her a spot on the All-Tournament team.
Junior newcomer Rashinda Reed had one solo block and eight block assists against New Mexico (0-4), helping her to a first-place tie with 23 blocks on the weekend.
Sophomore Margot Wallace was first in the Classic with 213 assists, including 39 against the Lobos.
Georgia continues play on Wednesday with a road contest at Clemson and opens the home season Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. against Georgia Southern in the Georgia Outback Invitational.
