ATHENS --- More than half of the 22 teams that appear on the 2002-03 Georgia basketball schedule announced today by head coach Jim Harrick played post-season games last year, a sure sign that Georgia will continue its trend of annually playing one of the nation's most challenging lineups.
Georgia has 11 games scheduled against teams that played in the NCAA Tournament last season, six more against NIT participants. Five of those games will occur before the Southeastern Conference slate begins in January.
''I always like to challenge our team by playing the best teams around the country, and I think we've accomplished that goal with this schedule,'' Harrick said. ''A schedule like that has its advantages. It certainly prepares you for your league play and the post-season tournaments. I also like to take our team on the road so we can face adversity and so our alumni throughout the country can come together and see us play.''
