(32-29 Overall, NCAA Atlanta Regional Finalist)

With the 2002 NCAA at-large bid, this marked the first time in school history that the Bulldogs recorded two straight appearances in the NCAA Championships. Georgia went 2-2 and finished second at the NCAA Atlanta Regional. Sophomore 3B Lee Mitchell, senior OF Adam Swann and freshman SS Josh Smith landed spots on the All-Regional Tournament team with Mitchell battting a tournament-best .500 (9-for-18) with six doubles, two home runs and 7 RBI.

Georgia's 32 wins including 15 SEC victories under David Perno was the most by a first-year Bulldog coach. Ron Polk went 32-26 overall, 14-15 in the SEC, in his first season at Georgia in 2000. Perno became the first Georgia baseball coach to take his first team to the NCAAs in school history.
