ATLANTA---Top-seed and ninth-ranked Georgia Tech hung on for an 8-7 victory over Georgia to win the NCAA Atlanta Regional Sunday in front of 2,465 at Russ Chandler Stadium.
The Bulldogs (32-29) saw their season come to an end but not before a furious rally, scoring two runs in the eighth and four more in the ninth only to fall short to the Yellow Jackets (49-14). The Bulldogs went 14-15 in games decided by two runs or less including 10-9 in one-run contests.
Brian Burks held the Bulldogs in check for the first seven innings as he picked up the win to improve to 10-6. He allowed two runs on five hits as the Yellow Jackets staked him to an early 5-1 advantage. Georgia freshman Jason Fellows got the loss after allowing three runs on five hits through the first three frames.
