GAINESVILLE, FLA.---The 12th-ranked Florida Gators won their sixth straight Saturday, defeating Georgia 12-9 before a crowd of 3,512 at McKethan Stadium.

Georgia (24-17, 11-9 SEC) jumped out to a 3-0 advantage in the first but the lead was short-lived as the Gators (32-12, 13-7 SEC) answered with five of their own in the bottom of the frame. Georgia senior left fielder Kris Edge (2-for-4, 2 runs) led off the game with a walk after falling behind 0-2 in the count. Senior centerfielder Darryl Blaze put a bunt down the first base line and the Gators made a pair of errors on the play that allowed Edge to score and Blaze to advance to third. Junior Chaz Lytle (2-for-5, 2 RBI) stepped up and launched a two-run home run off Alex Hart for the early lead. However, the Gators erupted for five runs in their first crack at Georgia starter Bill Sharpton who had recored the first two outs.
