NASHVILLE, TENN.----Freshman lefthander Mickey Westphal struck out a career-high 10 in leading Georgia to a 14-4 victory over No. 29 Vanderbilt Friday at Hawkins Field.

The Bulldogs (10-5, 3-1) overcame an early deficit and then poured on 10 runs over the last four frames as the Commodores fall to 13-5 overall, 2-2 in the SEC. Westphal (3-0) scattered four runs on nine hits and walked just one in seven innings. Senior Jeffery Carswell pitched two perfect innings, recording four strikeouts to preserve the win. Westphal and Carswell combined to retire the final 13 Commodores. Vanderbilt freshman Jeremy Sowers (2-2), a former first round draft pick of the Cincinnati Reds, was touched for eight runs on 11 hits before leaving in the eighth.
