ATHENS, Ga. ----- University of Georgia gymnast Cassie Bair suffered an injury to her right knee during Monday's practice and it is not known whether the junior from Evans, Ga., will be able to participate in the 2002 SEC Championships.

Bair suffered the injury while practicing on beam. She underwent an MRI on the knee and will be examined by team physicians on Wednesday morning at which time the severity of the injury will be determined.

The former walk-on has been one of Georgia's top performers on three events, vault, bars, beam, and has established herself as one of the top beam performers in the nation. She has scored a 9.9 or higher on beam in six of her last eight competitions and is currently ranked No. 7 in the nation.

The Gym Dogs are off this week and will return to action a week from Saturday (March 23) when they travel to Birmingham, Ala., for the 2002 SEC Championships.
