Equestrian Club Team Wins Second Place at Auburn Spring Classic

ATHENS, Ga. (March 12, 2002) - Over the weekend in the Auburn Spring Classic, Georgia's Equestrian club team took second place in Saturday's hunt seat competition and third in the hunt seat competition Sunday.
After this weekend's performance, the Bulldogs are behind Berry and South Carolina in the point standings. Berry leads with 176, followed by South Carolina with 158. Georgia now trails South Carolina by 3 points.
Katie Vijande qualified for Zone Championships during the show. She placed first in both Open Equitation and Open Over Fences in Saturday's show.
The following competitors have also qualified throughout the course of the season: Emily Adgate, Ashley Greve, Kristin Mercer, Erin Menigo, Jolee Vaughn, Amanda Zeigler, Sherry Wilson and Kimberly Huggett.
The standings are now final for the high point rider standings. Katie Vijande takes second place in the hunt seat division and Kimberly Huggett placed third in the western division.
On March 30, the team will travel to the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Zone Championships in Rome, Ga.
